We propose a house in which, on the one hand, the noble areas have a direct relationship with the landscape and the nature that surrounds them, thanks to the transparency of its enclosure, thus enhancing the contact between the interior and the exterior. And on the other hand, the areas destined to bedrooms and toilets, are provided with greater privacy or containment, by means of a more compact enclosure.
The volumetric organization of the bodies that make up the construction, the house itself, on the one hand, and the service areas, on the other (parking and facilities), come together under a single roof, and it is the articulation and arrangement of the same under this single covering that generates other complementary spaces, “interior-exterior“, which are those that end up generating a “home”.
The space of articulation between the two bodies generates the access to the house, allowing us to frame the views towards the distance, and creating an “exterior-interior” space that has continuity, in the form of a porch, throughout the front of the house.
Inside the house a central wooden body that houses the kitchen furniture, living room and storage cabinets serves to organize the distribution around it. The bedrooms and toilets are encompassed in a north-facing body, while the day areas of the house, living room and kitchen, as a single space, are oriented to the south.
The day areas enhance their relationship with the exterior by means of floor-to-ceiling glazing on three of their four sides, and are protected from solar radiation by means of the porch we have mentioned, which runs along the entire south front of the house. This solution is designed to avoid direct solar incidence in summer and allow it to pass through in the cold months. Meanwhile, in the east and west orientations, blind enclosures or vertical slat elements are used to control the solar incidence. These solutions, together with an adequate use of the installations (aerothermal heating with underfloor heating, hot and cold, and support of photovoltaic panels on the roof) allow us to obtain an energetically optimal house, without distorting the modern image obtained.
